Georgia is one of the safer countries we know, and it is a large part of why families and couples trust us with a first trip abroad. Tbilisi and the towns we use are calm in the evening, and serious crime is rare. We still plan as though our own family were travelling: your driver and guides are people we have worked with for years, someone from our team is reachable at any hour, and we keep a doctor's contact in every place you stay. If anything feels off on the road, one message reaches us.

It depends on how you like to travel — the stays you choose, how long you are away, and how much of it is private. As a rough guide, most of our trips fall between US$3,000 and US$10,000 per person, and we give you a clear 'from' figure before you commit, with what it does and does not include. Tell us your budget in the form and we will be honest about what it buys; if a plan will not do a place justice at that level, we will say so rather than quietly cut corners.

Sooner is easier, but we are used to quick turnarounds. A few weeks is enough for most trips. For the summer months, and for weddings, the stays and guides worth having go early, so six to eight weeks gives us more to work with. If your dates are close, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it justice in the time we have.

Many nationalities can enter Georgia visa-free for short visits, which is one reason it is such an easy trip to arrange. Entry rules depend on your passport and do change, so please check the current requirements for your own nationality before you book. Most guests fly into Tbilisi with one stop — often through a hub such as Istanbul, Dubai, Doha or a European city — and how long it takes depends on where you start. Direct flights from some cities come and go by season, so it is worth checking both. Once your dates are set we are happy to suggest routings that land at a civil hour, and your driver meets you at arrivals.

Yes, and it is one of the easier parts of Georgia. Georgian cooking has a deep vegetarian side — aubergine with walnut, beans, fresh herbs, salads and cheese breads — so vegetarians eat well without anything special arranged. For halal we use places we trust and can point you to halal kitchens in Tbilisi, and for stricter needs, including Jain meals or any allergy, we brief the kitchens ourselves on what to leave out. Less than you might fear. Georgian is the local language, and English is common in Tbilisi and among younger Georgians. It matters little day to day, because your guide and driver speak English and are with you throughout, and we are on WhatsApp whenever something needs translating. Most guests find that a few Georgian words — 'gaumarjos' as the glasses go up — are warmly received.
